    Hi Guys,

Not sure if I should put this in Motors or Apple Media devices forum but i'll put in motors because i think its got to do with the car radio more.

I drive a Honda CRV jeep with a stock radio in it, many of you know that when the radio station you are on is going out of range or your not on any proper station it alerts you somehow, in the Honda its a ''Beep Beep Beep....Beep Beep Beep....Beep Beep Beep'' every 30 seconds.

Anyway i tried to use a ITrip with my Apple ITouch and because you have to tune into a empty frequency the radio makes these beeps.

The ITrip works perfectly its just the radio makes the beeps indicating its not on any station.

Is there any way to bypass this and turn it off? I've read the radio manual but no luck.

It would appear yes you are,

Have you tried, locking one of the stations in. ie if you choose 88.92fm and save it as a preset and set the itrip to 88.92fm.

Will the radio stop beeping if its a preset saved station?

No, I am just seeing this now. :D

Turn off TP/TA, this is the cause of your Beep-Beep. Trust me, been there with a CR-V and an iTrip.

Thanks for ye're replies, I tried saving the station alright but the same thing,

I guess its just the way the radio is, pity, i'll just have to stick with the cd's! :(

Yep, Traffic Annoucements / Traffic Programs aren't used here in Ireland, but are popular on the continent. As notification that there is an important traffic announcement is that Beep-Beep. However, for some reason on the stock radio on the CR-V, it seems to warn you that it has no TA signal and beeps! You can turn-down the beep within a submenu or simply turn it off! I recommend the latter since we don't use it in Ireland.

    Spot on.

BTW on Kenwood car radios I have seen this travel/traffic announcement mode labeled as 'TI' instead of the more usual 'TP' or 'TA'

Avoid turning off 'AF' though when trying to turn off TP/TA/TI, - you usually want 'AF' to be set on so as this ensures the radio's RDS automatically tunes to a better Alternative Frequency when needed (depending on area) in the case of stations with more than one frequency (such as the national stations and most local stations outside Dublin)

Its a pity car radios are so often badly designed for use by ordinary people and the above problems occur.

I've had it work in the South East with Beat 102. Even worked with the VW TIM system (It records the traffic to be played back at your leisure) Sporadic but some stations occasionally use it. But hardly a loss if its off.
