A night behind the lamp

My self and 4gun decided to go out to a spot where I know has a lot of rabbits a few miles from my house.
So off we went and we brought my .22lr along as I haven't given it a run in a while and needed to knock the cobwebs off.
We got to the site and parked up and headed in with my clulite fully charged and the p7 ledlenser on my .223 we were set.
All we had to do was walk the edges of a couple of fields.
It was not long before we got some action. And it was one after the other for a while and before long it was time to bring our catch back to the jeep.

We got 11 in this bunch but we saw a couple more and we ended up with about 16 in total.

So while we were out and about and not to far from a sheep farmer that I do some fox control for so we headed up hill for 2 miles to the farm
First couple of fields were quiet and I new that if we were careful we would surely get one as there is always fox coming down from the mountain to the soft pickings.
First fox came into sight in a big field. We got the lamp on him and he stood there watching us as I put the .223 on him and pulled a shot which hit him off to one side of his chest but inside his leg. Not a kill shot but he didn't go far. He ran to the right and then toward us when I hit him again with a shot to the head to end his days

    One in the bag

We headed up to a spot that edges so woods and usually has fox in it. Well it didn't disappoint without even putting on the caller we saw one then another and eventually a third set of eyes.
So we put the caller on and one fox made a move twards us but not in a straight line. It went off to the right of us and presented a nice side on hart lung shot that I took and ups I missed and she was gone and not coming back. Hay no one is perfect.
We moved up further into another field uithe the caller on we didn't have to wait long for a set of eyes to appear. After missing the last one I was not about to rush this shot. So I could see her in the bushes but not clear enough. So I weighted as she moved down twards us causally taking her time and paying no heed to the light. Just as soon as she came out into the open I got a clear shot and she obliged me by standing face on to me to give us our second kill. Just as that one dropped we saw a second fox they was in the field as well but it legged it.
Fox 2 was a mange ridden vixon.
I think we did her a favour.

All told I think we saw about 6 fox on the one farm.
I will be back ther again soon

Good shooting there Poulo. Your getting out with the gun a lot and getting the results.

The story and photo's make for a good read.

How did the P7 work out for you did it live up to your expectations?

Cheers Clive. Ya we are getting out alot but I paid a lot for the guns and I like to use them. I go a bit stur crazy if I don't get out at least once a week.

The p7 worked a treat as you can see. I was using the clulite for most of the night but when that faded we were still able to keep going. As 4 gun had his hand held p7 and I had mine mounted on the scope

Poulo I know what you mean with stir crazy. I'd get out more than I do but her indoors needs minding as well so it's once a week for me. And that is out for stalking now butend of season then the foxes will get a look at until paddies day. Then it back to paper.
Testosterone and cordite a great combination
