hmmm not a bad price, but how is it "expandable" to usb 3 or eSata?

It features exchangeable "personality cables" that put the port selection in the hands of the consumer. US$30 a go.

the one in maplins is a 250 version for 50 quid are there many advantages to the harddrive being usb powered?? apart from portability

Portability is the big thing. i.e., if it is going to stay on your desk permanently, external hard drives are likely to offer more capacity for your money.

From the top of my head, the 2.5" drives might consume less power, but I can't substantiate it.

By the way, the Ibood offer only lasts until 11pm tonight.

Got this unit back in November from Amazon for same price. Had to get it in Silver and wait 3 weeks. It is the mutts nuts on the Pana Tv for recording programmes, have over 50 hours of tv on it and it has 55% free capacity. It is the USB portable and saves on power as when the tv is powered off the power is also cut to the drive unlike the xternal powered drives.

SomeTVs can record to USB or memory cards (my 4 year old Panasonic has an SD slot for that).

Ordered two of those drives and got a confirmation yesterday afternoon that they have shipped already. Nice!

On another note, since this bargain alert has expired, does anyone know how to tag it as such?
