    Lads, say I pay €350 a month in private rent...

    Gross income pw is 575, net is 475.. what wud I get extra per wk with rent allownace?

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can get rent allowance if you have a job?

    You would get laughed at, possibly verbally abused, if you tried to claim rent allowance when you're on €30,000 a year.

    Employment and Rent Supplement

    You will not qualify for Rent Supplement if you are in full-time employment. That is, employment for 30 hours per week or more. (In the case of couples, if one of a couple is in full time employment both are excluded from claiming Rent Supplement)

    In case you think you are funny posting something like this. I would do anything to earn what you do per week and pay as low as you do in rent.

    are you confusing rent allowance and rent relief? obviously you dont expext the state to help with your rent when you have a decent weekly wage, but you may be able to get tax credits from revenue:o
