There are nearly three hundred stations on the London Underground system - which one do you want to be near?

Where does your tour leave from op, or are you going solo?

    oops..sorry for not being clear.
just going for a 3 day long weekend break with my OH
go out and see important sightseeing spots of london - big ben, london eye, palace, wax museum, etc
i have been few times on official trip. so am aware of the tube touching all main spots.

so any good hotel closest to tube station?
how far can i go out of city to avoid hassle in commuting on a 3 day visit?

Check www.tfl.gov.uk for weekend tube closures - they can be really tricky. A few times in the past I have been looking for good value hotels and come across some of the big names at surprisingly good prices. However, when I have checked, quite often the tube lines they are beside have been closed - hence reduction in usefulness of the hotel, hence the reduction in price.

Location really will depend on al sorts of things - say you arrive into Heathrow at 2230 on Friday - do you really want to spend 90-120 minutes getting to a good value hotel somewhere on the far side of London ? You might want to, you might not. Or maybe you are leaving from Gatwick at 1130 on Sunday - you'll want a hotel on an access route to Gatwiock for example.

Is that €80 per person per night or per room per night ? If you really don't mind tube transfers (but think long and hard about it) you could stay in an airport hotel - these are normaly good value and at least you won't have any problem getting to your return flight.

Oh, one hint for things like London Eye, Madam Tauso the wax works is to buy your tickets by phone or online, either with your hotel wifi or with your internet phone thingie.

    The queues can be *MASSIVE*.

Last time I was there we bought tickets for the London Eye using my phone and then we just walked up to a ticket machine and typed in the code that was on my screen.

My sister rang the booking line for the wax works while she was standing in the monster queue outside, she ordered her tickets, left the queue and went straight to the ticket machine and walked straight in.
