I have a set of Fender tuners which Im putting into a partscastor.
I've drilled the right size holes and everything is good to go, except for the 2 little 'pins' that are on the tuners.
This pic shows what Im talking about:

Whats the best way to install tuners with these? Should I drill more holes? There is no threads on them.

    cheers.

Thats interesting never saw that before. Personally I'd probably use a bradawl to notch holes for those pins.

theyre a bit more significant in size than they look. i need to drill holes for them i think. but i need to figure out how to line them up properly.

Maybe try putting on the top of the pins, something like marker ink, or pencil, and then put the tuners into position at the 1st and 6th hole, so that the pins mark the wood. Use a ruler to join up the marks. This should give you a decent guideline of where to drill. Maybe use a compass to get the distance from the main hole more exact.

Or perhaps make a template out of card and then set out the head for drilling with the template.

I'm always nervous when it comes to drilling and head stocks in case I'd over do it or split the wood hence the bradawl suggestion.

Put them all in the holes and line them up using a straight edge. Then one by one press down really hard on them. If your neck is maple they should leave enough of a dent to allow you to drill accurately.
