bought a 04 astra 3months ago but always had a bit of me that wished i got one of these. quite rare in this country and this one is ridiculously cheap....is the towing eye cap open for a bad reason?

Could be there for any reason.

Nice looking car and supposedly pretty reliable. One of the car mags disassembled one of the Grande Puntos after 60k miles to see if it was a ticking time bomb and the inspection that was carried out was glowing.

yeah i had a mk2 punto before and it was unbelievably reliable. love puntos but dont want a 1.2 8v active, of which there are so many. usually these sportings are like 6grand

Had a FIAT before and my mechanic took (slightly good natured) offense that I never removed the tow eye after one of his jobs...

Great cars, if it was the 16v then I would jump all over it. Its probably a paddy spec 8v. As a current owner of two FIAT cars (Seicento,Mk2 Punto) I think they are such great value as the average bar stool expert thinks all FIATs are junk so they dont hold their value.

thank you! someone who has a proper understanding! loved my punto mk2. dont think this is the 1.4 8v though if its the Sporting. it could be the 95bhp one :D

According to the simple free check on mywheels.ie it's a 1.4 16V and because it's 2006 it probably is 95bhp with 6 speed box.

I'd say go for it :)

Could be, but there were as well 1.4 16v T-jet in two versions. 120bhp or 155bhp.
Can't it be one of those?

    Edit: I checked it.
120bhp t-jet was only available since 2007, and 155bhp was only mounted in abarth version.
It must be regular 95bhp 1.4 16v then.
    0 - 100km/h in 11.4 seconds.
    It's not really impressing.

And what I found it has only 5 speed gearbox.
