Advice re Cheap Sun Holiday Destinations - End of April

    Hey everyone,

I'm planning on going on holidays for about 9-10 days around the 21st of April with a friend and was hoping to head somewhere relatively cheap flight/accomodation wise (cause I'm fairly broke!) but that would also be quite hot (Mid to late 20's if possible). Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations or advice on places that would be cheap enough to get to but would also be fairly cheap food/drink wise? Looking for somewhere with nice beaches, chilled out atmosphere but maybe close enough to some good bars/nightlife etc.

I was also wondering if it's better to just book cheap flights/hotel ourselves or look at package holidays?

Destination wise I've been thinking of places like the Canary Islands (if anyone had any tips on a specification location or good bargain options?), Turkey and Greece (not sure if these would be very hot that time of year). Any other suggestions of advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all

You have chosen a very busy time to travel. Schools will be closed for the Easter Holidays over the same period. It's rarely a good time for cheap deals. Going a bit earlier or later might make all the difference!

as well as the dates mentioned.. look at expedia.ie - not sure if lastminute.ie is any good for this as i havent used it.. i used expedia before. i cant remember how hot spain is that time of year but ive been in march and wore shorts etc so id say april is fine! i like alicante. benidorm is nice cos its got a fabulous beach and promenade and of course spain is good for drinkies and eating out, its not a night hot spot like say: ibiza but its there... i didnt use the casino to lay any bets but i drank there some nights. lot of older people seem to retire there but i saw plenty of young ones who mainly seemed to stay by the pool and burn themselves during the day. not a popular place for families even though its family friendly.

not sure where else id recommend pricewaise....

an option is to fly out of belfast instead - our flights with easyjet were 100 cheaper than dublin. we paid 50 for diesel to a friend who dropped u soff and picked us up - so it was a saving of 50. but that matters in current times.....

Ya it'd be better if we could go earlier, it's probably not the most ideal time but it was the only days my friend could get off so we're trying to make the most of it now!

The UK have two four day weekends on the trot, so most of the UK is going to be looking for sun between the 22nd April and 1st may.

With Egypt possibly a non starter, the Canaries could be very difficult to book.

Ya Egypt and Tunisia had been options but they probably wouldn't be the safest places to head to unless the unrest has died down by April. Not really sure if there's any other random or less travelled locations that might be quite warm that time of year but where loads of tourists wouldn't be flocking too.

Would anyone have any recommendations regarding sun holiday type locations around the end of April? I'm trying to figure out what places (preferably in and around Europe) would be fairly hot that time of year? Kind of want to avoid the Canaries if possible unless people happen to know of some good spots there that would be sort of off the beat and track, or away from the masses of tourists?

Off hand I was thinking of places like maybe south of Spain, Sicily, Greece, Malta but I'm finding it hard to figure out where exactly I'll get pretty hot weather as the different sites I've looked at seem to vary quite a bit re temperatures and what not.

Any suggestions at all would be brillant. Thanks everyone

OP, please don't start duplicate threads for the same query

Ever thought of Mojacar in Almeria, it is not your hopping Ibiza but if you want a place to chill with a nice beach, lots and lots of places to eat cheaply, great value in private rental apartments or even low budget hotels drop me a pm.
