Start up problems.

    Hi folks appreciate some assistance or advice.
    I currently have a start up password and log in password that allows me to access windows etc.
    When i get past the start up password the screen goes blank and the only thing that appears is a flashing cursor like this _ in the top left hand corner.
    I cannot progress any further then this. The fan seems to be going constantly fast on it like it does at start up but does not slow down.
    I have tried to restart it and get same prob again. Any ideas?

    Anything plugged in to the usbs or anything in the cd drive. this happens to me normally when i have a cd in

    Thanks but have everything out of it. Only power source and the same when i have that unplugged
