    my malfunction indicator light came on this morn and the car started jugging a fair bit. drove it straight to the garage as i was close. i didnt know what it was till i looked it up online at work and all info i got on it reckons it could be a large number of things, sensory etc. anyone have more expierence on this, hope it dosent end up costing me to much. thanks in advance...

    oh right, 2005 passat. have it over a year, just had to get an altinator. other than that and a service thats all ive had to spend on it.

    As you said, that light can mean anything from changing a cheap sensor to something more costly.
    The garage will have to read the code and then ring you. Reading codes is usually about 50 in itself.

    Hi Shane I'm not picking on you but just as a reference for other posters this is probably how not to start a thread here :)

    You need to give as much info as possible

    Make
    Model
    Year
    Engine
    Symptoms

    And anything else you can think of, the more details you give the better quality of response you will get

    fair point, not really a car buff so didnt really think. will know for again!
