Good to see that Bryan is back running and soon to be back on the bike. It must be hell on earth for a PRO to be laid up for so long. Here's hoping he stays healthy and injury free in his quest for London.

How many Irish triathletes do people think we will see in London?

How many athletes are currently on the TI Elite or development squads? I recetly saw that Conor Murphy is away with the Irish squad training. Any other athletes that made the break through?

Conor Murphy is one to watch for sure. I watched him blast the AG field apart in the sprint event in Budapest and he looked very strong on the run. The bike is his weak leg but I guess some good camps will sort that out. Also would be good to have 2 Irish lads working together on the swim, get Bryan Keane onto the lead pack for a change

He gave Gavin Noble a good run for his money in Lough Key last season too. There was only one second between them at the end. Looks like the real deal alright. Good to see it too.

Although this was just after Gavin had come back after a long time out injured. But ye defo he could be class and lets hope the 3lads can all make big improvements and a big impression. As well as Aileen Morrison who is looking really world class and Emma Davis who is getting there aswell.

Russell White is another young guy to look out for in the future and is training in college in the UK i believe.

Does Conor have enough time to get ranking points and into the big races to qualify for London? or is it more of a long term outlook for him?

True, plus Gavin had raced in the TRI3 race the day before.

I read somewhere that Conor is targetting 2016 as 2012 is probably unrealistic.

Just realised that all the athletes mentioned except Bryan are from NI? Any care to shed some light on why that's the case?

Might have something to do with a combination of the exceptional sporting facilities in the North and the lack of any corresponding elite development squad in southern triathlon until recently.

Triathlon Ireland have done really well to bring the sport to the fore with the sports council in recent years so now there is more funding in place to identify the talent early and help bring on the youth development.

I'd say a few more years and we will have a really strong national squad.

I think we'll get two athletes minimum. Aileen Morrision virtually has her olympics card and then itll be down to Noble and Davis for a 2nd/3rd spot. I really hope im wrong but Keane's injury seems to have happened at a critical time. i dont think he has the time to get to peak fitness and get the qualifying points required. Had he avoided injury and improved his swimming theres no doubt he'd be there, his swimming had already come on hugely with only a short time under Darren Smith. Hopefully im wrong there.
