TEFL private classes

I was wondering if anyone had an idea of the current going rate for privates both in London and Dublin? I don't want to overcharge but don't want to charge too little either. I have the CELT cert and about 18 months post-CELT experience, as well as several years of privates and freelance work. What would be a fair amount to charge? How much extra should I charge for going to the student's house as opposed to having them come to me?

I heard 20 to 25 euros a few years ago for Dublin but not sure how much it would be now. Depends on the learner's level as well I think. Higher level students need more preparation than lower level learners as you cover much more material in class (in theory anyway). How much did you charge for private tutoring before?

Do you have a few students currently now lined up? If so then you could ask them how much they are prepared to pay to give you a benchmark or starting point at least.

I charged 15 euros an hour before but I hadn't done my TEFL cert then and had no professional experience. I tried charging 25 pounds in London last year but couldn't find students who would pay it. I'm reluctant to go lower than 20 an hour, which I think is the absolute minimum, taking into account preparation time, the fact I have a good bit of experience and so on. Am I being reasonable? Am would it be reasonable to add on travel costs if I have to travel?
