    Hi Ian,
Sean down in Stakelums in Thurles has a S&B longrange.

I have the 4-16x50 Long Range. It's had a scratch, so would part with it for considerably less than you might get it from a dealer if I could get a nice Zeiss Conquest or something to replace it, along with the low enough mounts.

why change it, for a zeiss, why not keep it. show us a picture

The Sako is a heavy beasty. Long term, I'm going to make it a lot lighter, and a Conquest with a 44mm objective is a much lighter scope, which is a good start!

It's a good old ding. Rifle and I had a fall while stalking. Internals look to be in perfect order however, but obviously I'd take a hit on the potential price for the cosmetic issue. If I could get a bit of fine wire wool and some coating to refinish it it'd look great.

It was a damn close run thing... I'm not madly concerned about the finish as long as the internals are fine, which they appear to be. The image is still clear from edge to edge, the reticle is sharp and moves with the turret clicks. I'll rezero next week now. I'll see whether I can find anything suitable to clean up the finish at some point before I go taking any wire wool or emery paper to it.
