Dublin City Council Grant Question

    Hi all,
    I am returning to university as a mature independent student to do a PhD and I applied to Dublin City Council for a grant back in November 2010. I am likely to hear word (hopefully good) in the next week or two and having spoken with my supervisor and the head of the PhD program I can register in February 2011 (next week).

    I am wondering whether the grant will cover fees and maintenance back dated to the beginning of the academic year. I presume the fees are covered for the whole year but am also hoping that the maintenance will be too.

    Does anyone have any experience of this?

    if you are awarded the grant for this year, and say you get it in febuary, then you will be back dated from the beginning of this year.

    e.g if your getting a monthly payment, then you will get september, october, november, december, january and febuary payment all in one go along with the fee's if you paid them yourself.

    Hi all, Well, I got the grant thankfully but am now going through a long process of PAC application and getting past qualifications stamped etc. I will not have registered until the start of March and am concerned that I will not get the maintenance grant backdated to September.

    Does anyone have any experience of this? I called the Higher Education Grants section and the lady said that I would get what I was entitled to before hanging up lol
