    Hi all!
Am going to Livigno in 3 weeks for the first time and didnt book a package. Beginning to wish we had now! Flying into Bergamo and thinking of hiring a car. Wondering what the drive is like? Only two of us so taxi not really an option! Also, staying in Montanina hotel which is above Mikeys Bar so does anyone know where the best place is to hire ski gear close to here and also wheres the best place to get the ski pass?
    Thanks!

Get a lift pass from the lift station.

There's a good hire shop across the road from your hotel on the carosello side, behind the street. If possible don't go to the one at the scuola ski cos its sub standard gear and they're thieves (Galli I think). Go right,(facing carosello), and near the bank, on the mountain side of the street, is a good hire shop. Whose name I forget. It's underground, down a curvy stairs.

I've been to Livigno many times and don't ever try and drive myself. Because that pass is treacherous. If you're hiring a car, you'll need snow chains. Maybe try and get a bus or taxi. Aint for the faint hearted.

First time....you could have made it easier on yourself tbh

    Hey,

Been to livigno for the past 2 years both on self drive. Both times we flew into bergamo and rented a car at the airport. Shop around online for car hire before you go as prices vary massively. I think the best price we got last year was from a crowd call budget3000 or something like that.
Defo get the snow chains. We got away without them both years but we did have to push the car a few times. The only reason we didn’t use the snow chains is that we didn’t know how to fit them and to be honest we couldn’t be bothered learning.
The drive takes about 4 hours. Try and get there before dark as its is not the easiest drive but at the same time its not the worst.

The best ski hire shop we found was directly below caresello3000 gondola. Its on the left hand side as your walking towards the gondola and the ski hire is downstairs. They have new boards every year so your guaranteed a good one and they give good discounts if theres more than 3/4 of ye.

The sun shines on the caresello side in the morning and the motellino side in the evening so we always spent the am on caresello and pm on motellino. Keep an eye out for the sexy calendars in the gondola on motellino.

Livigno is a great spot. Food and drink is cheap and the snow is plentiful.

Any particular questions you have pm me and ill try and help ya out.

There’s a site called livignosnow who organise accommodation and are really helpful so they might be worth looking up too.

    Enjoy.

Take it you've not got caught on the pass for more than a few hours then? The pass is a mess when it's snowing.

Love the calendars at motellino too, notice how they change every few hours too? lol

Will be heading over ourselves next saturday. Cannot wait. Havn't been out yet this year!

Above Mikeys bar.. Bring lots of earplugs. Its gets quite loud so ask for a room facing the front.

Are you talking about the toll tunnell? If so we only went that way the 2nd time and we were only waiting about 15 minutes.

Never the same pic up for 2 runs in a row. Always drooling getting out of the gondola:)
