Brush for Cream Blusher?

    Hi,

I'm rediscovering my love of the flush (after a brief dalliance with just highlighters) at the moment. I've never been able to get the desired effect with cream blushers, as I find finger application just ends up with too much product and not enough cheek to blend into. Also, my technique is probably rather lacklustre. So, having acquired two really pretty Illamasqua blushes today, I'm looking for blusher brush recommendations for applying the cream one. I've looked online and the Mac 187 gets a few endorsements- but I tried this brush a few years ago for foundation and hated it, felt like it ate my foundation rather than putting it on my face. Gave it away!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I know some people like to use the MAC 168 brush to apply cream blusher but I always, always use my fingers.

What technique do you use when applying with your fingers? Do you dab or pull the colour on? Its always best to pick up a small bit of colour with your middle finger and dab on. Build up the colour slowly.

It's always a good idea when you are buying a product to ask the assistant to show you how to apply it. Maybe go back into the store and ask for a demonstration?

    Thanks for that, Larianne!

Sadly, Illamasqua don't have a counter in the Republic anymore; I bought online.

I always use the middle finger and I do try to take up only a small bit. I think it's more that I don't really know how/what direction to blend in, how high up the face to go etc., if you get me. I have the same problem with powder blush, as unluckily I don't have pronounced cheekbones/bone structure or apples when I smile, so I kind of have to aim and hope for the best- but it's easier to get away with when you have a tool! Might take off and reapply what I have on and give the cream blusher a whirl in a bit.

Oh didn't know all the counters were gone!

Its all about practice to be honest! You could go into one of the department stores and say you are interested in a cheek blusher but don't know how to apply it and ask for a demo.
