Is it possible to purchase tickets, i.e. the lion king, or any of the shows anyplace except on llne - the fees on line are pactically double. Or is there any office in London that sells in advance, Is the best option to buy tickets on morning of show?

    thanks

tkts might be your best bet for cheap tickets, http://www.tkts.co.uk/

Otherwise you could ring the theatre directly and make a booking then pick up the tickets on the night. If theres any extra booking fee it should only be in the region of one or two pounds.

Try Keith Prowse - only a few euro admin fee.

I went to London 2 years ago for a long weekend, we were doing all the touristy things and took the open top tour bus and the tour guide pointed down a street and said you can get half price tickets after noon on the day of the show.

So on the Saturday we went down to the West End and saw that loads of places sell tickets for shows that night, and we got them for next to nothing.

Can't remember the name of the street but there are loads of Vendors all in the West End that sell them.

Yes, thats what i think i will do. Booking tickets in advance seems really inexplicably expensive so i'll wait till i get there.

    thanks

I thought about bringing the kids to the Lion King but when I saw the online prices I ruled it out. Maybe I could try on the day if we went over.

Heard the Wizard of Oz has £10 Million in advance bookings, wonder what the chances of getting a ticket are?

If tkts in the west end works the same as it does in broadway, they will rarely get tickets for the 'sell-out' shows at discount prices i.e. lion king, wkd....., as these shows can sell out for every day of the year in advance. If your not too picky about which shows you want to see you can get great discounts at the booths.

Im going to see Lion King at the end of Feb, bought tickets in advance :)

OP, I'm not 100% sure if it's same street as bobcar is referring to, but I was in London last week and bought my tickets for Chicago from a booking office in Cranbourne St, next to Leicester Square tube station.
Got them in the afternoon (for a Wednesday evening show) for about half the normal price and there was a good choice of seats available.

If you're looking for a weekend show, the ticket choices might be more limited so I wouldn't leave it till the same day to buy, if possible.

thanks for all that info. I feel confident enough to leave getting the tickets till I get there, it will be a monday and tuesday so probably easier to get tickets for those nights than for weekend.

    thanks again
