    Well lads,
The obscure breed thread got me thinking. I am thinking of investing in another springer pup but all of the breeds these days seem to me more like cockers than Springers. They are bred tiny now & I find need a lot of direction.
The best Springers I remember were always big strong dogs but the trialling world seems to have done a krupps on it & changed the breed.

Any1 know of litters knocking around of the older bigger breed of springer?
I'm tempted to breed the pointer into a springer & get a litter of droppers & train 1 or 2 to work close & cover...
The best dog I seen to work was a setter springer cross but he was wild & not trained properly. If he had been he was top class!

    Any leads?

I have only put my springer bitch with a dog last week, if its a success the pups will be big strong springers with a lot of stamina. Might be just what your looking for.

Thats the Dam on the right I'll try and get a few of the sire later on or maybe tomorrow, may have a video clip or 2 of her going through cover.

She's a big springer, I do a lot of beating with her and I know the father and my friends have litter mates of his.

    He has Monalue in him.

A friend of mine has a 7 month old big dog pup for sale.I have his litter brother and his aunt,he is from very good stuff but is out of barking stuff. We like them barking because we hunt foxes with them but i know it's a big fault for a lot of shooting lads.

Ah the words of small man with an inferiority complex! Prob drove a Humvee 2 :D (kidding & that's true)
Ah I just rather a stronger dog. If wanted a small spaniel I'd look at cockers. Mate breeding sprockers possibly later in the spring & could get 1 for nothin but I Jst like the bigger breed. One of the lads years ago used have 1 & he was a serious fox dog as well. He killed many a fox on drives but he'd allow pheasants pick out of his bowl around the yard. Bring him out hunting & he wouldn't leave a bird behind him. A big springer is a noble looking dog!
