Thinking of buying an LED TV...

It would be a present for my dad, but as an unreformed cathode ray tube watcher I'm a bit confused by the tech spec's, particularly when it comes to picture quality.

I notice a lot of the new flat screen technology seems to have an issue with 'ghosting', particularly when fast movement is involved.
So what I'm wondering is, which technology tends to minimize this issue or is it consistant across LED. LCD etc.?
I notice that some of the the Sony Bravia range have image stabilzation techonology that may halp, but I'd like some reccomendations on models and technology from those in the know.

If that bothers you, you should get a plasma TV, as they're the only ones with a fast enough response time as to avoid that effect.

LED's have similar response times to LCD, as far as I know.

Most of the "LED TV's" on the market are just LCD screens, but with LED backlighting as opposed to standard cold cathode lighting.
