Problem with SE X8

Been having a problem on and off with my X8 were it will reboot it self every 15 seconds or so when I connect it to a pc, no I found out this is a not unheard of issue with android 2.1 on these and can be worked around.

However I occasionally leave my phone and come back to it to see it has restarted itself. Just there 10 minutes ago I checked it and put it back in my pocket, then needed to make a call and took it out again only to see it was switched off tried to power it on and it was dead but had 60% charge when I checked minutes earlier

Went to look for my charger and came back to it 5 minutes later to see it starting back up again

The main time I notice this is when I have the phone off charging and then switch it on after a charge, I'll power on enter my pin and it will reboot it self this might happen 2 or 3 times before it decides it want's to stay on.

Not sure what to do , don't want to bring it back to the shop just yet as I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing or a hard/software problem.

I don't have a task killer installed or anything obvious that I can see causing this.

I seen something somewhere that if you put the phone in silent (not vibrate) it doesn't happen. Sounds silly but worth a shot. :)
