No network signal after jailbreak iphone4

Hi guys first post in this forum (been reading and gathering lots of info and tips though)

Basically i carried out a jailbreak on a friends iphone 4 over the weekend firmware 4.2.1 but after the jailbreak the phone wont find the o2 network or search for any other networks i.e zero signal, tried jail breaking several times but still the same outcome.I eventually gave up and restored the phone to 4.2.1 firmware and the phone found the o2 network no bother.

I performed a jailbreak on my own iphone 4 last week same firmware and it went seamlessly, anyone any ideas? He was having network coverage issues previously with his iphone 4 we live in same area and where as i would have full strength he would only have 3 bars,he went back to the shop and the sales guy told him to switch of 3G he did and he now has full signal surely you shouldn't have to switch off 3g to get a full signal on his phone where mine has good signal with 3g on,could it be a faulty unit?

Sorry for the long winded post and any help would be appreciated.

Could be faulty considering you have full in same area.

jailbreaking can be a bit weird as regards phone signal...did you do a reboot on the phone just to see if the signal returned?
I had a similiar issue at the weekend (4.2.1)and had to reboot mine (on 3) signal returned then no problems

Yes forgot to ad between jailbreak attempts i rebooted several times (maybe 5) tried switching to flight mode and back again to force it to search for network signal but still no joy.

I think i'm going to put it down to a faulty unit and see if he can get a brand new unit from the shop on grounds of poor signal performance,i mean jailbreaking aside in this day and age you shouldn't have to manually switch of 3G every time you want to make a call or text and then switch it back on again to use an App etc.

O2 won't swap the phone for him even if be returned it the same day he got it. He'll have to wait for apple to send a courier to collect it and then send him another one
He could get it replaced straight away by apple but it costs 29 euro and ya have to give them credit card details to put a hold of 577 on it until they get the broken iPhone back

I dont think he'll go for that, looks like he is stuck with a 'normal' iphone so! Maybe when a full jailbreak is released for his firmware i'll try again.

    Thanks for the help lads.
