"Leadership...occurs in isolation...?

Listening to the Week in Politics there and Enda Kenny was being interviewed (pre-recorded). He mentioned that leadership occurs in isolation and it made me think - I do not want a leader like that! I want someone who will communicate and absorb the world around him. Not sure what way I will vote, leaning Labour at the moment, but it was a concerning comment to make. Thoughts?

Didn't hear the interview so it's hard to comment but I suppose he could be saying "a leader needs to take his own council and not be swayed by the media etc."

If that's what he meant I wouldn't disagree. Hope it's not a quote from some 'self-help' book.

I don't know, not sure what he meant by it and he did surround it with other positive sayings. I just feel that he has always been unreadable and never really tested so that is why I feel I can't vote for Fine Gael - Labour seem to be more sure on their feet. I remember reading in the Irish Times the other day that all the parties should forget about this upcoming debate. Instead give each leader an hour live on television where he is questioned by a panel of 3-4 representating Irish citizens. Now that's an idea instead of all this showboating.
