    Hey all.

Heading snowboarding next saturday and was thinking about buying one of the Go Pro Camers.
There a bit pricey and im worred that they may be a bit heavy on my helmet. The footage they take is excellent tho.

Has anyone any experience using them and if so how did they find them? Also how did they feel on the helmet?

    Cheers

Have been using one for the past few weeks and it is cracking!!!

Hardly notice it is there shoot a great wide angle shot and you can even shoot upside down and in slow mo on the camera.

Have been using it shooting Freestyle at the Ski CLub of Ireland and again not even noticing it.

Could not recommend one enough, The one I am using was borrowed used it for two weeks and will be buying one next week.

    Cheers for the info:),

I was thinking about getting the go pro hd960 as its much cheaper, about 200euro.
Gonna have to make up my mind soon as im going to solden on saturday.

My big fear is that i will spend too much time messing about with the camera rather than carving it up:eek:.

Takes about 30 seconds to set it up and then once it is mounted push one button to turn it on and one to film thats it.

Go for it they are a serious bit of kit. Got mine at Christmas and got loads of footage with it. Its very easy to use and set up. Make sure you get a big SD card as well for all the HD footage.

    Cheers for all the replys:)

    Two quick questions.

1)How do you edit your clips?

2)Can you take the helmet mount off of one helmet and put it onto another one without much hassle or is it a case of once its put onto one helmet its staying on that helmet?

    Again thanks for the replys:)

Nice footage. Needed a bit more speed on that last jump tho:D:D

The night skiing looked great on the camera. Might have to give that a go this time.

    Just one more question:D

Could i use any brand sd card or do i have to get the very expensive GoPro one? I have a 16g sandisc one so im hoping to use that.

Heres one I made earlier: the first shot shows the durability pretty well!!

    answers to your questions:

Your 16gb card will be perfect, as long as it is class 4 (as in 4megs/sec). Most likely it will be fine.

Helmet mounts: if you have vents on your helmet, the helmet hero comes with a strap you can tie through them that works suprisingly well. Otherwise it comes with a few superstrong adhesive mounts that sticks a small piece of plastic to your helmet that you can mount it on, most ppl use this.

Weight: they are very light, as you can see from out vids you can ride around with them on the end of an outstretched pole and not get tired.

Editing: use premiere pro cs5 if you have a 64bit windows PC, final cut if you have a MAC. They won't work with every editor tho, for example, windows movie maker will not take gopro clips straight out of the camera, so you will have to convert them to avi's or something first.

I love these things, the only downside is that they do not make you as good as the guys in the official gopro vid!

regarding buying the cheaper gopro - be sure to check what sort of battery comes with the cheap one. from what i recall, the cheaper one runs on AAs which you eat through pretty quick shooting HD hootage, while the more expensive runs on a Lithium Ion battery and lasts for ages between charges.
Footage is also cracking in the water. and the wide angle can make for some interesting stills.
    enjoy
