These + delivery will give you change from €300.

Beware those HP and Dell PCs though, the usually lock their BIOS to prevent overclocking

    also if i buy

    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/7681055/art/asus/radeon-hd-6850-1-gb-gddr5.html

i wont need to get a new PSU, what do you think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭seyeM

If you're sure that the PSU can handle it, then go for the 6850, it seems to edge the GTX 460 in performance.

Recommend getting this, will blow the hot air out of your case (given it's HP i'd say fans are non existant).

I hate to rain on your parade massy but the CPU cooler is useless - the machine is a regular HP, so no CPU overclocking! :o

And I'm fairly sure that the PSU is fine. Older versions of the Delta 460DB went up to 432W on the 12V rails so the new version is probably just as good. Plenty of power for a cheap HD6850 or GTX560, just bear in mind that you'll need to find a PCIe splitter because all those cards in that range need two PCIe power connectors (which, given the low power usage and lowish TDP of the HD6850, is a bit barmy! :o) and I'm not sure if the new revision of the 460DB has a second 6-pin cable (given its power output its not unrealistic to expect but OEMs are always stingy with cable assignments! :o).

according to the interwebz, the card only needs 1 6 pin connector

    http://www.finestdaily.com/news/new-amd-heroes-hd-6870-and-hd-6850.html

says the 6850 only needs 1

Yes it does. In other news, I'm being especially thick tonight :o:pac:
