Taxing the car

Just bought a car that hasn't been on the road for over 3 months.

To tax it I need to get a form stamped by the guards and bring it along to the tax office...

Do I need to bring anything else other than the stamped form and money...like the log book? (i won't get it for a few weeks but want to drive the car asap)

You don't need the form stamped by the Guards, that's only if you have owned the car while it was off the road and want to tax it from now. You just tax it from date of purchase now :)

You will need the logbook so you'll have to wait 'till that comes, I would still drive the car if I was you, explaining if required how you don't have the logbook, I wouldn't park where a traffic warden could ticket you though.

I've taxed the car by calling into the tax office before but can't remember if I needed the log book or now...
I don't want to risk calling down and waste my time to find out i need it

Generally you don't need it, taxing it for the first time in your name you do. If the change of ownership hasn't been processed you can't tax it as it won't be in your name.
