Looks ok for a temparory job, but in a garage, what insurance cover could you get for it?

That is one brilliantly simple piece of engineering. Mind you, I can see lawyers looking at this with glee. The safety instructions must be one huge manual.

With a bit of time and patience you could always wind it up and down with a ratchet and socket

Looks great, but if i had one i'd still be using axle stands as well:D.
Wouldn't instil me with confidence, but i just have a phobia about being underneath any car without a jack (or this thing) and two stands.

I see some nice lifts there alright but not this one. All the ones there seem to be some sort of hydraulic lift. I'd imagine this one which I'm guessing is some sort of screw drive would be much cheaper

    It does look very good.

Would love to know the price, would be very handy...

Well, it's a european-made, CE approved lift, so no reason why not.

....that's a US site - the lift seems to be made in Spain. If you look at the video you'll see it's a spanish garage and cars, as well.

I love the idea of being able to use it outside.

I've emailed them for a price - will let you know if/when they reply.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The rotating idea is scary, you'd need to find the center of gravity of the car before you do anything. I'd buy one though.

I'd wonder what's the max weight it can lift?

2000KG. Anyway, from the eBay stuff it look like it'd be €400 delivered. For a car lift you can put in your shed and not have to lie underneath, that's a bargain.

Don't think it would make gearbox work much easier than on the ground with axle stands etc.
    That's what I'd be thinkin!

I got one from uk. it's very good. still don't fully trust it enough to crawl under it without supplementary support. It's heavier than you think. you need to be pretty strong to lug it around a shed. It's not narrow enough to lift a truimph spitfire.

Yeah, I was just thinking how VW TDI owners will be confused as the nose appears to be cemented to the ground and it wont tilt..

Is there a reason why it tilts instead of doing one that lift the whole car up level like a normal lift?
I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Meant to put that up the first time then the thread dissappeared. im too lazy to go looking :-)

How much did you pay including shipping etc?

    Cost reasons, I imagine.
I'm not entirely sure but I'm guessing it's so that you can use the cars own weight to lift itself rather than something more costly like the ramps that cost over 1k.

They'll need more GTDTIDTIIDI badges on the back to counterbalance things!

How handy would this be to be able to bring with you when you're looking at a second hand car and you've no means of getting up on a ramp!

430 sterling for the lift, 100 sterling to drop it by courier to my door.
Comes in a massive wooden crate. You wouldn't manage it in the crate on your own. Sterling was much better when I bought it.
As an ageing member of the car tinkering brigade, one of those little garage seats on wheels, along with this lift, has saved me so much back pain and makes brake jobs almost enjoyable. I'll post a pic later. Bear in mind that it sits under the sills. Some classic owners get very nervous of this.
