Have any of the parties written their manifesto for the upcoming election? As a working mother, I'm interested in child/family friendly policies.
Would love free medical card for children, free childcare and some tax credits per child.

No offence here, but anybody who promises that is a bloody liar and you shouldn't vote for them.

No hope of the country being able to afford any of that bar maybe a small tax credit for smalls.

Well, I don't know about the other two points, but Fine Gael propose (not immediately, but by the end of a five-year term, I think) to reform the current mess of a health system to the Dutch model where everyone has health insurance, with parents getting vouchers to pay for the health insurance for children (that covers GP visits, prescriptions, etc.). You can read more about it here.

I'd imagine Labour would have a similar idea, as they also support universal health insurance. I can't find anything solid on it though.

The ULA are proponents of universal public health care.

To be honest the best family friendly policy is an everyone friendly policy, I'm sure your kids would prefer prospects to what you have mentioned, go for the party you think can run the country best, then far greater benefits will be available to them in future.

Means testing medical card for kids is fair enough, plenty of folks rolling in cash who don't need it though. Free childcare should not happen, it's not free someone will pay, presumably through increased taxation, single folk and folk with reared families should not be paying other peoples childcare.
