i just noticed last night that my car has a very loud noise when stops in front of red lights.

The noise is from the back of the car. and it's loud. But the noise would be gone once i press the accelerator and go.

i just took my car to service though (thursday before). and i did not notice the noise before that. but one week after service, the noise came...

should i go back to the same garage or a different one?

my car is an opel corsa 1999.

anyone any ideas? how much would it cost to fix it?

My car is a 1999 corsa, there's the problem. Seriously, it sounds like a loose exhaust, it may only need a bracket or a rubber hanger.

might be... because the noise was from somewhere very close to the exhaust.

i did my exhaust though (a few months back). the garage said it's going to fall off!!!!

then a full service thursday week before, in another garage as i moved house.

just wonder should i go to the same garage or a different one this time...? any opinions?

(new with cars, so would like to gather some others' opinions, tks!)

Just go to any place that's convenient, its's a simple fix if it's just a loose exhaust.
Any garage will be more than capable of sorting it out but there's no need to go to a main dealer.

With the engine running see if you can eliminate the noise by holding the end of the exhaust, this would point you in the right direction.

tks, guys. my friend had a look for me and he told me what aujopimur said here. but he had no ideas how much would it cost for fixing.

do you guys know? the labour cost and the bracket.

will take it to the garage tomorrow. but would like to know the average price for fixing this.

    tks!!!!!!

Unless the exhaust is corroded/broken then the chances are the clamp joining the backbox and center section has slipped and the exhaust is touching the rear axle, a very common issue on the corsa.
