    Hi,

Your girlfriend should have a little booklet with her pill which will tell her how long she needs to be on the contraception before she is fully protected. The pull out method isn't recommended as there is such a thing as pre-ejaculate (pre-cum) that is semen which is released BEFORE orgasm/ejaculation. This could be enough to get her pregnant.

No contraception is 100% effective against pregnancy and the pill will not protect either of you from STI's (I know you said you were virgins but still.)
I would recommend that you use BOTH condoms and the pill. If both are used pregnancy is pretty impossible.

Also, you take the morning after pill within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. The sooner it's taken, the quicker it works to prevent pregnancy. This should not be used as a method of contraception. It's a worst case scenario solution. It can wreak havoc with the female body for a little while afterwards.

I don't know whether you just worded this wrong but the morning after pill is to be taken after intercourse, not after pregnancy!

That is pretty much all the advice I can think of regarding preventing pregnancy.

It's also important that your girlfriend takes her Pill correctly - preferably at the same time every day and if she misses a Pill, she is no longer protected from pregnancy so you should use another method of contraception.

Since you're both virgins I'll assume that by safe you're just talking about pregnancy. The pill is not 100% effective against pregnancy. It also has to be taken to the letter, even missing one ruins it's effectiveness (and there'll be extra instructions depending on her pill about how long you'll have to wait for it to work again). As for the pulling out method, your pre-cum has a chance of getting her pregnant. It's unlikely that she'll get pregnant on the pill, but even if her pill has a 1 in a million failure rate, you could be that one in a million.

    No.

Usually the morning after pill is for if a condom splits (which is something you would notice) or if the condom was forgotten (which you would notice afterwards). That way you know something went wrong and you take the morning after pill. If you and your girlfriend are having sex relying on the pill, you wont know she's pregnant until she misses a period, and even then you might accidentally dismiss it the first time it's missed. By that stage it's far too late to take the morning after pill.

In a nutshell, if you're going to have sex only on the pill, that's ok, once you're prepared to deal with a pregnancy if it occurs.

after a week is usually long enough but read the directions.
the bar/implant is really good, its a little bar put into a girls arm to stop her for getting pregnant. it lasts for 3 years and you dont have to worry about it

    Sigh.
Look, your girlfriend should be discussing with her doctor or reading the leaflet about when is safe, pregnancy-wise, to rely only on the pill. Failing that, talk to a pharmacist. She will also need to discuss when the pill may fail, e.g. after throwing up.

Secondly, pill only does not protect against STIs.

Finally, if she is on the pill there is no way of knowing on time when she needs the MAP unless she had thrown up, etc. So no, you can't just toddle into boots when she's pregnant.

If this is a serious thread, please educate yourselves before you do anything.
