    Hi folks

Noticed this on my car the other day. No idea how it happened. Was told I need a new bumper since its been filled before by the previous owner. Ive had it since late September.

The picture is up pretty close.

Its dirty since I dont want to give it a wash since I take of any more paint with a hose.

It could probably be plastic welded. There are plenty car body specialists on here that should be able to offer some advice.

I have only got one persons opinion so far. Ill be asking around alot more.

As it's been filled before, there won't be much plastic to weld. You could do a fix using cable ties and fibreglass, but it's not easy and has no guarantees. Maybe a scrap bumper in the same colour might be in a dismantlers somewhere?

    That'll polish out! :pac:

I dont really see the cable tie stitch look going too well on a focus....

Would it be possible to touch up the paint with something from a ford dealer and leave the crack until a new bumper can be acquired?

Im more worried of more paint damage happening due to there being some missing at the moment.

What would you folks do? Also how much you reckon prices on bumpers range?

Halfords will be able to colour match the paint for you. Sounds like repairs to the damaged area would be expensive if possible. I would go look for a used bumper myself. Try partfinder.ie, it's easy enough to remove the bumper if consider doing the job yourself.

Depends on if you plan on hitting it again, got a similar repair done on a car against advice my aunt bought 6 years ago. She's a great driver and doesn't touch park. Bumper is still intact.
It looks repairable and its way down the bumper, if its repaired with filler, any impact will break it again. Depends on how confident you are.

I dont intend to hit it off anything. I touched it once but I checked it after and I was ok. I came out of the shop one day and I noticed this. No idea how it happened.

    Theres a few options:
-Fix the paint and leave the crack
-Fix the paint and fill the crack
    -Get a replacement bumper

Each more expensive. Going to give the car a good wash tomorrow and see how it looks.

The cable ties are used for temporary reinforcment and to hold it in position until the fibreglass sets, then you remove them.

    Worth having a go yourself.
What i would do.... remove fog light, this should give good access to the area, strip paint from around afected area, clean throughly, bond both sides together from behiend with fibreglass, when it sets fill the front of bumper with filler, when filler sets smooth off with paper, clean again, mask off surrounding area and spray with primer, when dry spray with top coat, when dry spray with laquer.
Im certinetly no expert but id give it a bash, wont cost you more than 50 euro id imagine.

You will get a spurious bumper for about €100+VAT, €100-€150 will spray it.

    Job done.

True but sometimes spurious bumpers dont fit so well and look bad as a result
