I have a HD desire HD myself and I am absolutely delighted with it. The misses needs a new phone and have a budget of around 200e to work with and would love to introduce to a htc android based phone. Was looking on ebay and can get a HTC Wildfire delivered for about 220e, this seems a good deal to me , anyone have any experience with one of these phones? the reviews seem good! feedback would be appreciated:)

Ive had a wildfire for about 4 months, absolutely love it. I get 3-4 days tops without charging. Thats with wifi being used quite a bit and a few calls and texts. The screen isnt as clear as the desire or hd but to be honest its never bothered me.
Not the best handset for playing games as the processor isnt its strong point buts the only fault i have with it.

I used to have a Wildfire. Absolutely hated it. The phone was so laggy and the screen was awful. Wasn't very joyful to use and it felt annoying trying to use it. If you're looking for a good cheap Android phone is recommend the ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco. Excellent phone but you may have to take a trip up north to get it or it may be available on the net, not too sure. The HTC Gratia is also a great little phone, exactly like the Wildfire but better spec. :D

For a budget android phone I love my LG Optimus, though some people dislike it due to the resistive screen and the Meteor one is left on Android 1.6.

I have a wildfire about a month now and i love it. I get about 3 days battery out of it max. Screen isn't as high res as the desire but sufficient i think. Camera is pretty good (although the pics look ****e initially due to the bad screen). It's slower than the desire too, so if your trying to run Angry Birds it will be slow but playable. Google Navigation, Maps and GPS work very well. Txt auto correct works well. Music player is great. It's too slow to play full quality .avi files though (using Rock player on a 700MB movie). Call quality is grand. Integrates beautifully with google services (but i guess all the android phones do that). All in all i give it a thumbs up for a cheap feature phone. Not as good as the desire but you get what you pay for.

thanks for the offer, not an option for me as based in Cork! need to pick up something on line and at the moment the ZTE Orange looks good, best i can get online is 176 euro delivered which inst bad i reckon as its 110 up north (compulsory 10cedit) equates to approx 130 euro , an extra 45 euro i know but dont have to travel and get it delivered to door.

On another note im travelling next month and going through heathrow terminal 1 and 4 , was wondering does anyone know if there is an orange store in heathrow? might be worth waiting until then!

i went to go with meteor a few weeks back. the phone was 250. thats grand, obviously its free with this deal. anyways, they wanted 300 deposit off me because of my work status. So yes you probably will get it free but you might have to pay upto 300 deposit (which you get back after the 7th bill).

myself and the misses both have wildfires and were lucky to get a day without charging it,i dont use mine for texting or calls only for internet and playing games and dont play too many. Both have task killers but about 8pm everyday the battery goes to yellow and needs a charge

Have to say i have a desire hd, use it a lot for the web , twitter, calls and texts etc , not continuous or anything but fairly regular during the day. I have task killer etc installed along with watch dog and also have display down to lowest setting and i am lucky if I get half a day out of it. I have a charger in the car , at work and at home and its not unusual to have to charge twice if not three times in a day after leaving the battery go fully down (1% , 2%!) in all cases!

Yes I am fully aware of that thanks! Just wanted to give some comparrison with the wildfire owners to sympathise with those experiencing poor battery life to highlight the fact its much poorer on the desire hd in my opinion anyhow! I just broadened the narrative and sorry if this offends!
