    Hi Guys,
My Burner irons go as far as a 4 iron, which i love!!!
Im looking for a club to hit a bigger second shot with.
    Are they called hybrids/rescue woods?
    What should i look for?
    Thanks!

yeah thats what there called dr nick, hybrid or rescue same thing.assuming you dont want 3 iron to match your set then rescue club is what your after.21 degree would equate to a 3 iron and if you have 5wood 18 degree already then it would fill gap between 5wood and 4iron.rescue easier to hit than long iron for most also which is advandage.

Excuse my ignorance, but whats the difference btw a standard 3iron and a rescue 21degree?

    I love my long irons.
Does a hybrid generally drive the ball further, all things being equal?

I tried using my driver/woods on the fairway for a while, and it went ok in practice, but horrible during a round so i abandoned the idea.

Im wondering if a hybrid would be almost the same thing, as using the driver?

Were you trying to use your driver off the fairway? That's about the hardest shot in the book even for a very good player. For a high handicap player even the 3 wood isn't easy off the fairway but about the same distance.

A 5 wood is easier and a rescue wood easier again. A rescue wood is usually easier to hit that a 3 iron as you can hit slightly behind the ball and you'll still get a fairly decent result. A 21 deg rescue wood will usually hit the ball a bit higher than a 3 iron.

as stockdam and myself have said dr nick the rescue is looked at generally being easier to hit and hit higher for softer landing.it is also prob easier out of rough due to head shape.but if you saying you love your long irons and hit your 4 iron well then def look into getting matching 3iron for your set.think most people only switch if find 3and4 difficult to hit consistanly.

    Thanks!
So i have an old Spalding Xecutor 2 set with 21, 15 and 10.5 rescue's in it.
Im going to take them to the range this minute with my own Taylormade Burner 4 iron to compare.
Another 20yards on top of my Burner 4 would be sweet. My 4 is the my fav club mainly due to hours on the range with it. If i could keep the reliability and just add 20 yards it would be sweet.
    Thanks!

    Just back from the range.
My 10.5 was bent down the shaft.
The 15 was pretty spectaculor. 20metres further than my 4iron. Not as consistent, but still fairly good.
Also delighted with my driver. Broke 200m for the first time!
