New betting scandal?

This statement was released this morning by the WPBSA:

"The WPBSA has been made aware, by bookmakers, of suspicious betting patterns on the match between Jimmy Michie and Marcus Campbell at the Caesarscasino.com Snooker Shoot-Out on Friday evening."

The WPBSA's new integrity unit has launched an investigation into the Marcus Campbell v Jimmy Michie match at the Caesarcasino.com Shootout in Blackpool last night after "an unusually high number of bets" were placed on Campbell to win. The Scot won the frame 32-21.

This is such a pity as snooker seems to on the up again and the Sky Shootout on this weekend albeit a bit of fun seems to be getting some very positive feedback on a lot of forums.

Interesting point is that Jimmy Michie announced his retirement from the sport immediately after last nights defeat.

I hope this is nothing like what it sounds, altho i have a feeling it wont be because altho its only a 1 frame shoot-out, i still had campell a big odds on favourite to win against one of the weakest players, if not the weakest player in the top 64.

So if everyone thought this way, then i can see why an unusual number of bets would be on campell, i know i had €100 on him and i rarely bet on snooker but this was a bit of a no brainer really.

My thoughts exactly, i would'nt be too suprised if Michie had his £500 prize money on Campbell too!
