    Hi,
I'm looking at getting a new mixer and cd decks... somthing along the lines of cdj 1000's, I never even used a cdj but im dying to get a shot of them. It wrecks my head seeing djs in pubs playing ****e on them and not even mixing and i'd kill for a chance to get on them.

I haven't mixed in a good few years, I have 1210's and just a basic 2 channel mixer, so I want to get back into it and get onto the cds. It'll be just for use at home for now so I dont need anything like cdj 2000's but at the same time music is my only passion and i dont want cheap **** either.

    What would you's recommend?
    Thanks for the help.

    Cian

I’m sure there is plenty going second hand on Adverts.ie If you want to splash out go for the CDJ 900'S, as Pioneer are not selling the 1000's anymore, You said you go into bars and clubs and disco not mixing, I agree with you 100%, but in the majority of disco bars and clubs mixing is not appreciated all.
All they want to hear is their fav tracks and they don’t care if they are mixed or not or who is playing them.

if there just for the bedroom

    cdj 350s

picking a set up in the next few weeks, i got them for under 500 each but i think 600 is the going price

For the money you'd spend on cdj's, just get traktor or serato since you already have 1210's?

Considering most clubs will be refitting there set-up with either CDJ900s or 2000s once they change I'd recommend going with a set of 850's or 900's to be quite honest instead of getting some 1000s.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but can anyone tell has any clubs in Dublin changed over to the 900s/2000s yet?

    Cheers for the replies lads

Yeah theres a good few alright, reading up on them its defo between the 350,850 and 900's its hard to get the head around the differences having never used any of them before.

you're bang on with the crowd not caring, you'd hear trainwreck mixing and look around and no one else notices a thing. Its annoying to see such money being payed out for the gear when its not even being used!

Dont have a decent computer at the moment and wont have one for a while... and to be honest i've always wanted the cdjs. I cant justifiably look down on these lads in clubs/pubs if I cant even use them myself ha ha :)

Any Mixer recommmendations?? Djm800 too much?? or are there similar ones for cheaper?

    Thanks again for the replies

I personally have the djm800, and it's really too much to have at home.
I'd much prefer to have a djm600 and have spent the surplus cash on something else, but what's done is done!

Cheers eeloe, having never used them its hard to know if you're going overboard, and the less I have to beg the credit union for the better :)

any other mixers worth looking at or are the pioneers the best for the job??

No. Pod have a few of the new series knocking around, but 1000s are still the standard in all the rooms.

Think the Wright Venue have 2000s, but that's hardly a real club.

If you want sound quality over features, check out the Allen and Heath range, superb mixers.

@OP We seem to be going in the opposite direction, I ve had CD decks all my life and now i'm retrofitting to Turntables. Just Ordered a pair of Stanton ST150 after a good few weeks of contemplating if i should spend a fortune on the Technics SL1250s (heard Panasonic has stopped production BTW). I'm getting the Pioneer DJM 700 and Serato Scratch Live 3 with it.
Pioneer is the standard when it comes to mixers by my research :p so if you are gonna get a mixer you should give em a good thought. The DJM 350 looks good.
Other very good brandsin mixers will be the Rane TTM 56/57, Allen & Heath series.
Still expecting my shippment tho' i should be able to tell you exactly how the DJM 700 is in a few days. :D
As regards the CD decks you can get the Pioneer CDJ850, looks like the CDJ 900/2000, same layout and hefty savings.

The djm 700 looks nice the 800 too. I'm being tempted by a second hand 600 to save money though.

as for the cd decks, its between the 900's 850's... 700 euro in the difference on thomann though!!
