Ministers Turning Their Backs on Fianna Fail.

Fianna Fail Minister of State Sean Connick has turned his back on Fianna Fail. In recent days he has begun his re-election campaign. His constituency office in New Ross, Co. Wexford has posters erected in the front and side windows. The posters are of the standard variety i.e. picture of candidate, vote 1 and name of candidate. But in a departure from tradition Minister Connick has ominously left out ANY mention of the party he belongs to. He has also chosen to leave out the Fianna Fail party logo. To the passer by this poster would suggest that the Minister has chosen to contest the next election as an Independent.

Any other FF'ers out there chosen to discreetly turn their backs on Fianna Fail.

This is a tactic that has become well known (seen it happen in Meath and Louth last time alone).
Some are trying to distance themselves from what they see as a toxic party.
Some would like the public to think that they are no longer a supporter of FF or disagree with them - when in fact this could be far from the truth.

For some its just tactics and nothing more.

More dishonesty from FF who'd a thought it?

FF HQ want candidates to run localised campaigns - the FF logo is toxic.

Another FF tactic (also seen used) is to leave out the "Republician Party" bit completely or make it very small, usually shoved in a bottom corner somewhere.

I hear ya Biggins. I remember the 2009 local/euro elections. FF all around Wexford had FF logo and 'The Republican Party' so small you'd need to be within 2 metres to read it. But this time there is no mention of FF at all. Unless it's printed in invisible ink. Although a lot of chat around constituency wondering if he'll be selected at convention. Maybe hedging his bets? Have to posters done as an Independent incase FF decide not to put him forward.

Yea ...and then they try and say "personality politics" (parish pump) shouldn't be done!
A bit hypocritical of FF - but then what's new!

The Dáil hasn't been dissolved though
I started reading the thread and assumed it's some rule on the type of posters you are allowed.
    Obviously not with the logo

But you sure it had Vote No.1?

I'm no expert on the rules, I was sure something existed though

What you stick on the windows of private property might (I say might - I don't know...) be different (rules) from sticking posters on public street poles, etc.

    Just a possibility too?

    100%

Vote No 1 in top right hand corner.
Connick Sean in bottom left hand corner.

Since I originally posted i've seen a people carrier with stickers all over it. Again not a mention of FF or 'The Republican Party'

I have no issue with where any candidate places their material. My observation is that a junior minister has posters on windows of his office and also one of his cars with no FF logo's. Whatever about the posters in the windows, why go to the bother and expense of getting artwork done up for cars on a saturday to have them changed again next tuesday when Dail is dissolved? I'm not a member of any political party. Just making an obseration.
