At the time i thought this was an excellent film, it had a great story and imo solid acting from Louis Gosset Jr. and Dennis Quaid. Hated enemies crash land on a planet, forced to work together to survive, a friendship develops. Drako has a baby and Quid ends up being it's new father.

He stops at nothing to rescue the child which in the end ends the war between both races.

I've not seen it since i was wee but I remember it being pretty damn good! I'm sure the effects and that have probably dated a bit now but the story was solid and would still definitley be relevant.

I actually saw it again a while back.
While I still enjoy the film, I feel that it hasn't aged particularly well.
The sets are fairly noticeable, which is a little bit disappointing.
I don't want to take anything away from the film though, it blew me away the first time I saw it, although that was a long, long time ago.

Most of it is up on youtube for anyone that is interested, missing the beginning, but the rest seems to be there.

Yeah i watched it again recently, having not seen it since I was 8.

Like ET, I feel it hasn't aged well. I still enjoyed it though. It drags its heels through the final act but otherwise it's still worth watching.

    Hell In The Pacific..........in space.:D

That's how I have always regarded Enemy Mine. Enjoyable film though, and one that I have not seen in an age.

Yes like others I just loved this film when it first came out. The first two thirds of the film being totally engaging. Only slightly dipping towards the end. Excellent tho.

    The book was better, sorry.

Not that the movie adaptation was particularly bad, but you somehow just connected better with the characters in the book.

    NTM

stargate paid tribute to it a few years ago. even called the ep, enemy mine. which is a fine double entente in the episode.

I grew up watching this film quite a bit so its a classic for me. I guess the effects have dated but I find them more visually interesting than 99.9% of the CG rubbish in todays fast paced fare. That why I think judging things by the standards of the present is somewhat pointless. I mean the neo classicists re-wrote Shakespearean plays to make them fit in with the trends of the time and ended up ruining them. Something like Star Trek TOS has terrible effects by todays standards but they're of their time and have their own charm because of that. Regardless of changing social conventions, fashions or styles I think the best thing to do is judge the film on the merits of its storyline and characters. This is why shows like TOS and Quantum Leap are classics. Anyway back on topic I enjoy the slow pacing of Enemy Mine, Douglas Quaid is a great actor, soundtrack is great. This scene sums up the philosophy of the film for me, its quite good.

yeah, positive memories for me although I haven't seen it in years and get the feeling it will not have aged well so best left as is i.e. leave it as a memory
