Hi, I was thinking of getting an overdraft of around EUR600. I'm with AIB and aware that as a student plus account holder I'm entitled to overdraft interest free for 150 days.
Will I be able to get EUR600 overdraft?..And if so how long will it take for the money the come through into my account?

    Thanks:)

I am not sure about AIB, but BOI have given me a 600 euro interest free grant advance overdraft facility every April for the past 3 years. I usually have to take it out when I'm waiting for the third grant installment to arrive as it's always late.

I think that they only trust me as they know that the grant will come in, though.

They will only give it to you if they are sure you will have a way of paying it back.

Never tried to get an overdraft with AIB, but if they refuse you, open an Ulster Bank account.... they give everyone an overdraft of 650 without having to apply for it...
You can apply for an od of up to something like 1500

    EDIT:
it's intrest free too if you pay it back within a year

you do need to apply for it. and if you sign up with the people who are outside the college advertising ulster bank, chances are they will "misplace" your details and it will take a long time to get the overdraft setup..

this happened to me, and i finally got a response back from them in april last year, (almost at the end of the college year) telling me my overdraft was now available.

Weird, I set my account up in my local branch, and she filled out the form, and said, do you want a €650 intrest free overdraft and I said yeah... I got it immediately cause whenever I'd check my balance it'd say 100 but 750 was available or something along those lines...
And I was never a customer of UB before....

If I were to go into AIB, would they give me it there and then? I do have a means of paying it back.
