    A 5 seater, two retiring TD's Brian Cowen and Olwlyn Enright. I reckon it will go;

    Charlie Flanagan
    Barry Cowen
    Sean Fleming
    Brian Stanley
    Marcella Corcoran Kennedy

    What do people think?

    Brian Cowen hasn't announced whether or not he will run. If it saves them a seat he probably will

    They'll be in "fierce trouble" if he doesnt according to Sean Fleming...

    Looks about right, I think 2 FF, 2 FG, 1 SF, theres rumour that Barry Cowen may have a battle to be selected, assuming Brian Cowen doesn't run

    I think Laois Offaly, and any other rural constituency with a strong FF candidate will not see a massive change in political order. Unfortunately too many people in rural areas vote in the same pattern year after year based on what side their family took after the civil war. I would love to see this election change that (and maybe it will in some areas), bur I still see Laois Offaly with 2-3FF, 2FG & maybe 1 AN Other.

    why does everyone assume that everyone in the countryside are going to still vote FF because we're all gob****es who vote for a party because our daddy did:mad::mad:

    Yes there's going to be a certain element of that going on but people living in rural areas are being hit just as hard by this recession and all that - just because we're farmers or whatever doesn't mean we haven't seen hits in income and living standards... FF would have traditionally been quite strong in my area but there's very few people I know who have anything but the height of contempt for them right now....

    People in rural areas may have voted for FF/FG consistently before this election but wait and see that pattern being smashed this time around..

    sur just look at any polls and you'll see that FF is already down from 41% to around 15% at best - surely that indicates that the "old grannies/Grandfather fought with Dev" voters are changing there minds on FF on an epic scale...
