PS3 & avi file names...

I have my hard drive set up on my PS3 and it plays movies, no problems there. But SOME of the file names come across all strange

The only way I have found to edit the file name is to copy it onto the playstation hard drive, re-name it but when you replace that file back on to the external hard drive again it goes back to the long name.

    can anybody help??

Click triangle on the file and then click info. Scroll down to the title and click X to edit it

This works when they are on the PS3 hard drive, but when you transfer them back over to the external the file names do not save :(

I suppose when they are on the PC, change them there first. And it should stick with its title in whatever you do after that.

Nope, as I said, it only happens for SOME files not all. Anyone else having this problem????

Sounds more like a problem with your external HD rather than the PS3 if it only effects the files when they're on the external HD

I would not say it is a problem with the PS3, I'm just wondering why it is happening to the odd occasional file and not all of them???

Am I the only one that has come across this?
