New Standard Sky install questions

    Hi all,

I'm getting Sky installed soon and I've a few questions about the standard sky installation that's included.

Is the standard Sky+ box actually a Sky+ HD box even if I haven't signed up for HD, and if it is will I be able to get FTA HD channels?

Do they install a quad LNB as standard even for just 1 Sky+ box and no multiroom? If so, I'd like to use extra connections on the LNB for FTA on
an old Sky box (Panasonic) that has an expired Blue Sky card. Will that still have UK EPG (unlike Sky HD boxes which seem to be locked on Irish EPG after latest software upgrade for other posts I've read here).

Do they refuse to route cables through attic, I think they said that on the phone that they're not insured to enter the attic?

    Thanks
    dof

You get a sky+hd box, correct. There are two FTA HD channels on the EPG, BBCHD and Luxury Life HD and you can manually tune in BBC1HD and ITV1HD (no record facility though).

The older boxes should give you the standard UK EPG, go to sky news, press red then remove and reinsert card upside down while the red button loads up. This should revert the EPG.

You get a quad LNB but the installer will normally only run the cables for the subscription boxes. You'll need to sort out cables to other boxes yourself. They may do it if you ask nicely, or for a fee. They won't go into the attic space for insurance reasons, you'll need to find another way to route the cable.
