    do you think he was under a year old, might be difficult to see small spikes at large distances

    this question is asked every year and im still not sure
    i just dont bother shooting anything that has antlers of any make or shape after december
    and if by any chance i do shoot one that has small ones that i dont notice which hasnt happened yet
    il explain that to whoever might come acroos me with it

    No, antlerless deer that are shootable now are females and male/female calfs.

    A deer that was born last April I would shoot, not the season before as I would consider him a pricket.

    I'd look at the neck, as when they get older males get more muscular necks as opposed to the slender graceful neck of a Doe.

    I shot a fallow male one year that had no antlers but deffo was 2-3 years old.
    He might have been a bit lacking in Hormones.

    However that was November 2000/1 so he was in season no mater what.

    A Calf is a Calf, ie just about to be weaned fully

    isnt there such a thing as calcium deficiency where they dont grow any antlers?
    what category do they fall under

    If you cant see any antlers then its antlerless :)
