Hey lads I was talking to one of the managers in work today and things are looking OK. He said January 2011 has been the most profitable month for the workshop since October 2008:eek: Couldn't believe it and when I think about it the last 4 weeks have been super fast, with no real slack of work. We took on a new apprentice there last week and they are looking for or could already have a qualified mechanic lined up. This is a good sign anyway!!!

How are your garages getting on, work wise?
Sorry if I sound a bit nosey but Im not, just trying to see how the motor mechanic trade is getting on.
    cheers lads.

I suppose a combination of people holding on to their cars longer and a bumper year for sales last year means more people are keeping their cars well maintained.

I sell aftermarket parts, filter, belts, clutches, batteries etc, and the last few months we have managed to meet or beat our targets. Long may the rise continue.

We have never been busier, no big money jobs, just lots of small stuff.

Good to hear lads and I hope it continues. Also well done to survive it all in the first place.

I have been in and out of dealers the last month or so and some have been incredibly busy. Others not so much. The best one got my money and will get my servicing work into the future.

I'm only doing diags now but getting plenty of calls and offers of work. I've cut right down on my hours due to family circumstances, but I could work 9 days a week if I wanted to. I pushing work I'm not able to do to lads I worked with years ago, so at least someone is benefiting!

    Great post plug...
The way things were for the last few years people were buying new cars as the price Comparison between new and old-ish (+3 years old) was very little.

This was all down to cheap money that we now don't have.....

It's great to see Technicians (Modern mechanics) doing well for themselves as they were left out alittle when the sales men were raking it in for talking
bullsh1t to customers who were buying new cars...:)
    Roll on the tradesmen.....:D
