Noisy Radiators

Hi, Wondering if anyone could help me please

The radiators in the house have become very noisy, they make a gurgling sound when the heating is off. Its not all the time, but a few times a day and during the night.
At the moment as well they are not heating the water for me, but a plumber told me I just need to balance them and hope that will sort the heating the water problem out.

Could the noise be related to the lack of water heating?

    Any ideas gratefully received!

Possibly air in the system. Are all the radiators heating? If it is a non pressurised system then you could release the air from the highest point in the system. Usually the top of the highest rad.

If the system is not balanced correctly some radiators will heat far more quickly than others. Is this happening?

    Thanks Kieran,

As far as I am aware, all the rads are heating.

How do I know if its a pressurised system?

I would think actually that, yes, some of the rads heat faster than others
