Hi if you have any Android Problems that you want to get off you chest please post them here.

Please state the model you have and what version you have of android.

That way we at least we will all feel that we are not the only person with these problems with out android.

Please post you problem and not ask for help.

Least we can then add up all the problems at once.

Feel free to pm people that offer you help.

My Problem: Well when I set my alarm in my phone and turn the phone off it never wakes me I have to leave the phone on at nite in order for it to wake me in the morning that is happening with 2.1 and 2.2.

Was having a Phantom phone and texting issue with 2.1 myself but I rooted my htc hero and updated it to 2.2.1 and no problems since.

Mine, Sony Ericsson X8 on 2.1 reboots itself when I connect it to a computer , and gets into a loop of this every 15 seconds

Resolved after I put it on silent and vibrate is off.

Also have the alarm problem outlined above , same issue different phone. Mind you I can't say for sure if the phone even had this function, but am I wrong in expecting it

Alarms won't work with most if not all Android phones when turned off I'm afraid, it's a hardware thing rather than a software thing.

have the HTC Legend and since I updated to stock 2.2 at times it drives me nuts, response time is gone slow, restarting the phone does the trick for a while, also sometimes when I go into messages it brings me into my contact list.

All in all still love the phone but had wanted to smash it off the wall occasionally

Desire HD and twice I've had all my messages vanish. Last time it happened the whole messaging app seemed to have crashed too - I couldn't send/receive any
messages until I re-booted the phone.

Also new messages are sometimes not indicated on the screen. I believe this is another known issue with using the Sense stock messaging app.

I've also had occasional processes go rogue - Next Train Ireland (at the same time as the message crash, presumably related) gobbled up 34% of the CPU and almost drained my battery.

Suffered also from the /init error, which chewed up the CPU until I invoked the "USB Debug" workaround.

Is your phone rooted or are you using stock?

Desire running 2.2. Only problem is not being able to connect to a wireless network that requires a proxy and specific ports. Just can't believe that such a good phone can't do something so basic!

I use the free Sms Popup from the market. Leave the alert on the screen and can reply from it too.

Stock. On the 1.72 update from Vodafone. I believe the issues I've experienced are all known for the stock HTC install.

I've a Desire HD also and I regularly don't receive notifications for texts. My messaging app crashed a week ago for the first time and deleted every text I had, quite annoying but I know it's not the end of the world!

I'm just using the version of Android the phone came with (2.2.1) and have the 1.72 update from Meteor.

I might try that sms popup app but to be honest it's a pain to have to do so, if my old phone could always notify me about new texts I'd expect my so called smartphone to do the same.

    Wildfire on 2.2

As I posted in another thread, occasionally the sim contacts appear duplicated/triplicated and even quadrupled in the phone book. Then they go back to single entry after a day or so!

Then today the phone rang and the callers name was displayed. Just as I went to answer another mates name popped up, as if they both had rang me at the same time. Answered the phone and it was my 2nd fella.
Rang the 1st called after and they said they hadn't called me at all! Checked the call log and there was a received call from both. Then later the 1st call disappeared from the log!?!?!?

Rang meteor customer care today and they say its probably a handset issue

Posted this in the SF thread but may do it here as well.

Having wifi issues with my phone at the minute. At home, my wifi works great with a netgear router but at my University house' Siemens router the wifi will connect the first time, then disconnects after a short period of time and won't connect again unless I reset the router.

I thought maybe it was my phone but it could be the actual router. Is there any way to solve this problem? It's a real pain in the neck! Thanks in advance.

samsung galaxy s 2.2 the alarm keeps turning off or changing the days ive it set for also disables snooze function also when i got up and connected it to my wi fi th time went an hour forward I think i may have resolved this by deselecting use network provided values. so that explains the clock time jumping about the place but still unsure about the alarm so for now ive downloded alarmdroid and disabled my standard alarm il see how i get on now. has anyone else had the same trouble is this a hardware problem or just me lol the phone is only a week old so i could take it back but really dont want to as ive some nice apps on it now, any help greatly apreciated :)

This thread is completely pointless. There are so many android phones, that people whinging about their particular one and particular problem isnt going to achieve anything.

go to the XDA forums (and for gods sake, dont look like a n00b they hate that), find your specific phone and problem and see if someone else has had that problem and fixed it.

I think a thread, where you dont have to worry about looking like a "n00b" for asking a question, is a good reason for it to exist.

is there any way to get twitdeck to open links in the dolphin browser instead of the default htc one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 117 ✭✭ChoKuRay

I bought a Htc Desire yesterday and downloaded double Twist app so I could transfer my itunes library. That transferred fine with the exceptions of the play lists. but now when I just tried to open itunes on my pc I got a message telling me that it could not open itunes as some of the files are missing and to reinstall. What should I do? Have I knackered up my itunes? I am afraid to plug in my ipod now.

Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> (Pick the browser app that opens up automatically) -> Scroll down a bit and hit "Clear Defaults".

I have 2 HTC Wildfires - one for me and the missus, both 2.1

I will start with her phone.
    1. Keeps force closing every single app
    2. SD card will not work at all so no way of saving anything.
    3. Phone keeps freezing and have to take the battery out and start it up again.

    My phone.
    1. Force closing some apps
    2. Freezes and has to be turned off and back on.

If i could turn back time i would never buy a HTC again

Try updating the firmware to the most recent android.

If that doesnt work, just take them back to the shop. They arent working properly so you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund at the shops discretion.

They have been repaired 3 times and sent back to HTC and they replaced the handset but the issue is still there. The national consumer agency are taking it further and wish to take it to court as meteor/eircom wont fix the issue.

    V2.2.1 on Desire HD

Its surprising the amount of fairly serious bugs on Android that should have been fixed long ago. The ones I have discovered so far.

    1. Regular SMS database deletion causing loss of all Txt's.
    2. When unlocking phone a random app will be open that was not open before phone locked.
    3. Phone connects to open WIFI networks which may require payment or other steps to access. Android assumes once connection has been made that connection is active and then tries to use said connection for all traffic
    4. On Screen Vibration feedback stops working but off screen Vibration feedback continues to work (Might be a phone fault)

my current issue is sometiems my onescreen keyboard wont work. i have to send a blank message or use task killer to end messages then retry again and it usually works..
seems to just occur randomly :S
    htc desire.
also when i try to call it does similar sometimes. its annoying because on the screen it even shows the keys being pressed down but just doesnt write them. or in calls. it doesnt make the call.

besides that everything is fine. takes 10-20seconds to resolve when it happens maybe 1-2times a day

    I have a xperia x10 mini, andriod 2.1
Is there any work arourn to get apps to save to the sd card and not phone memory, I know that it's only supported in 2.2 but is there anyway to move the apps to my sd card ?
And I'd prefer not to go down the root/custom rom route.
    Cheers :)

The phone can't keep up with typing using swype a lot of the time, especially on longer words (and I'm certainly not fast at it) so usually it's best to avoid using it. Unfortunate really because I find it's great when it does work. Galaxy S lag I reckon.

I can't get my hotmail to sync - changed settings to push as suggested in an article I read somewhere, it seemed to work for a while but eventually I had to remove my hotmail. 20 unread messages on phone, none on PC - coudn't hack it anymore. Anyone have this working properly?

I often find the network to be roaming after I finish a call (Regardless of where I am)

The screen doesn't always come on after removing the phone from your ear to hang up a call, have to hit the home key a few times and hang up from the pull down menu

A freeze or a crash every now and then, sometimes requiring removal of the battery. I often find upon reboot after a freeze that some of the app icons are moved or missing from the desktop screens.

As stated it's a Galaxy S so laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggggggg...

    Don't think there is sadly.
