Right lads, I have a pretty old pc that crashed about last year and got it fixed and they had to put in a new hard drive. Then I had to validate windows on it again. Now everytime I log in I have to validate windows for some reason.

I've been typing in a huge code everytime since and I don't know why it makes me do that cause it works normally then.

Anyone of ye know what's going on? Oh yeah, it's XP aswell...

    Thanks!

If you legally own the copy of XP, I wouldn't feel too bad about using a WGA removal program.

check the date / time on wpa.dbl - this is where windows stores activation for your motherboard (not usable on anyother hardware )

there is a windows genuine advantage tool which forces windows authenticcation, whether this is your problem or a solution to the problem by forcing activation I don't know.

my bad thought it referred to bypassing activation , still not too happy about downloading such apps but..

a bit long winded but doesn't require downloading any apps
    (best done in safe mode)

Thanks for the help lads. I've tried that wiki link and dont have a clue what I'm at!
I then downloaded that WGA Removal Kit and it just comes up with this-
"Microsoft WGA Notification tool is not currently active on your system." Any ideas?

It is a legal copy of windows so your help is much appreciated!
