Iron & Manganese Filters not working

Hi, I moved into my new house last May. The water coming from the well to the house was horrible. Got it tested and it showed high levels of iton and manganese, though the levels could've been a lot higher I was told. Got a local guy to put in a filter that backwashes. However, I've had to bring him back out 4 times since as the water is still yellow, and smells of iron. Thinking of getting the water tested again that has been filtered and see what the results are. Has anybody else here had the same issues, or are there any suggestions as to what I can do next. Thanks a million. B.

Try to run the pump for a couple of days non-stop (without the filter). Check the water quality in between. It should clear up after a while, the continous flow will dilute the concentration of iron and manganese around the pump/sucktion point.
However after a while of stand-still it's concentration will increase again. Finding the right amount of daily flow/consumption is a learning curve, you'll see a faster increase in the concentration after heavy rainfalls.
