Lets give Europe another reason to laugh at us - Rubberbandits...............:D

Difference between Rubberbandits and Dustin is the Rubberbandits actually have some musical talent and could probably do a half decent entry. The Limerick accents would probably grate on the European audience though.

Don mescall should be picked but talent rarely comes into choosing a eurovision entry :P

Send Jedward, Eurovision is all about novelty acts. Ireland need to stop taking it seriously.

if its novelty they want send the rubberbandits, its a more accurate description as ireland as a nation god forbid europe thinks we are a bunch of jedwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

Europe wouldn't get Rubberbandits, it'd be Dustin all over again.

You don't have to be completely unknown to be in the Eurovision. Celine Dion won it in 1988, and tatu were in it as well.

It's ridiculous for this to go to a public vote, Jedward have such a large established fanbase that none of the others have a chance.

    What about Cliff?

Anyway nothing to suggest that Blue are all that famous in the rest of Europe.

lol sorry couldnt resist. All Joking aside would it be good for our tourism if we won it and had it here? I mean we should have won few years back then money would be booming in lol. They did not think ahead with our entries.
In saying that though is very much back slapping going on now more than it used to be.

    :Round of Applause:

However I really think that Marilyn Bane, Tammy Browne, Shane Creevey and Gari Deegan should go for it. I don't think they will they are far too famous.

They're in that world famous band Bling. One of the most successful Irish bands. This is the really problem when Irish people don't here about their own music groups ;)

Jedward = Laughing Stock . fair enough they had some comedy value with the XFactor , but represent Ireland ,i mean come on enough is enough
im sure there are genuine artists out there that would love a shot at it , also i dont think anyone outside Ireland or Britain will get it at all and just keep giving us Nil points.

Most people from Ireland don't even get it, so you're probably right.

Represent Ireland in the EUROVISION. It's as camp as a row of pink tents! A 'genuine' artist wouldn't want to be associated with it.

They don't want us to win it, we couldn't afford to host the eurovision!!

Things have changed since RTÉ last hosted the Eurovision. AFAIK RTÉ took up the full price of the event back in 1997, now the EBU provides money towards the event. RTÉ begged them to introduce advertising when they hosted the event.
