Costed by the department of finance?

This line has been trotted out by every SF candidtae and spokesperson for the last week when any debate turns to query how they would run the economy.

SF say they had a budget costed by the department of finance, does this actually mean that their plans could work? or is it just a nonesnese line they trot out before.

I have noticed that once they use this line and a quote about ireland having 30bn in the locker they close shop and offer nothing else so I am supsicious of the truth of.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Any Sinn Fein activists out there to offer me a good explanation for this?

Not a sinn Fein (or any other party) activist etc, but as far as I'm aware, no member of a "department" (DOF or otherwise), is allowed comment on any claim made by any party, you could basically say that the entire financial problem we have was caused by someone in the department of defence ordering too many paperclips & they couldn't deny it.

First rule of politics; don't believe anything they say.

Douglas Adams on politics: "Anyone who is capable of getting themselves elected should on no account be allowed to do the job."

I was a bit skeptical about it and if what you say is correct I wouldnt be suprised that SF are saying it knowing there is no recourse...

BUt what I would like to know is can they propose a budget and give it to the dof for analysis? Does the DoF do this as a nixer ;-)
