I have an Acer Aspire 5741-A. I bought it 6 months ago. Recently my battery has not been charging fully. It started to only charge to 85%, then only to 72%, and now only to 50%. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need a new battery? If so, where is the best place to buy?

    Thanx.

Go back to the place you bought it first. The battery may still be under warranty.

Its normal for battery life to drop off significantly after a few hundred recharge cycles, but you definitely shouldn't be seeing that after just six months.

I would agree with the above, I assume it would still be under warranty, contact them to find out.

However before taking it back I would give it a couple of full and uninterrupted charge/discharge cycles, it will help calibrate the battery guage. Also note that nowadays most laptops have circuits that deliberately don't charge the battery if you plug it in when it is nearly full.
