So i have recently got the UPC package of 20mb internet, phone and tv.

I recently used imagine/gaelic telecom internet through a zyxel 600 series router and had it connected directly through the modem.

Now i have the xbox connected wirelessly to the UPC (cicso epc2425) router and every 30/40 minutes is disconnects me! I forwarded ports correctly (or so i think i did) and made a static ip address but i dont know whether thats correct as im not 100% sure what to do...

    Any suggestions would be grateful.

    Go to your router's gateway
    Firewall
Untick everything except for Firewall Protection.

Is it just me or does the new 20mb upgrade seem slower than the 15mb. My xbox live is lagging and disconnecting more since the upgrade

Just wondering about this, I have the 20MB broadband package with UPC, so far xbox live is running fine, if I downgrade to 10MB will it still be able to run ok? The reason why I went with 20MB is to get the free router and then downgrade after 4 months to 10MB

10mb would still be perfeclty fine alrite, im sure if your line could handle 20mb the 10 would be aok easily

I was on 10mb for a few months. Works fine with xbox live as long as theres not a laptop or other computer using the net at the same time

I'm looking at getting UPC actually. Are they good i.e. staff, quality? and is it worth it?

They're a lot better than they were in the past. Its not too expensive and definately worth it. Had no problems dealing with them since i got upc last year

I use UPC too, I am on 30MB and its no congestion fibre broadband and no lag/disconnections, so you shouldn't really suffer from any lag online unless its down to game servers or hosts... for example EA Servers are shocking at times! :D

I've been having the same problem on 30mb UPC line too but it's very intermittent! I could have 3 disconnects in 15 min and none all day then! :o

I just seem to get disconnected a random times just setting up things there got disconnected 3 times in the space of 4 minutes.. Its very frustrating!

Does anyones broadband drop in signal from say 5 bars down to 2 and back up constantly?

I used to have a problem where the connection would be at 3 or 4 bars then it would completely disconnect, then seconds later 3 or 4 bars again. In the end we got a new router and that fixed it.
